Chuck Paulsen was a candidate for city council of my home town.
City council elections don't attract the massive contributions of state and national elections - so we needed to keep costs as low as possible. I used Microsoft's Office Live Small Business ( OLSB ) as a platform for the site - because it provided free hosting and because it was designed to be updateable by non-technical folks.
OLSB turned out to be surpringly flexible - after getting over the steep XSLT learning curve. I was able to use custom XSLT modules in the site, linking several backend business applications to front end display. On the backend of OLSB is a Sharepoint based collaboration application - the equal of many paid online project management applications. It could easily scale up to handle the needs of a large campaign team.

Map Site is a Virtual Earth web application that I have been working on - slowly - Original idea was to create a site for storing and displaying scuba diving sites, submitted by members. The early versions were built using javascript on a SQL '05 db. The current version uses the new ASP.NET map control in C# and the SQL '05 db. The social aspects are on backburner - perhaps version 2.0, lol. Links to the site and my project notes are here.

A simple desktop db to keep track of breaks & lunches in a retail store. Very, very simple database ... 3 tables. No real security, but we didn't really need any: we just needed a tool to help keep folks honest with break times. Download
